Post and SAL members marched in the Carroll County contingent at the Legion's 70th National Convention Parade, the first ever in Maryland.
Building Renovations approved by the Building Renovation Committee started in late March 1990.

The National and Gold Star "Operation Desert Shield" program started in October to assist our troops in the Persian Gulf and send "Goodie bags", and other gifts, letters, copies of "The Gold Star" newsletter.
On June 15, 1991, Mt. Airy held an  "Honor Our Troops Day" with a parade and program for the returned troops. The day ended with a luncheon for them and families at our Post.
Life Memberships awarded to Harold M. Molesworth and C. Mason Wilburn.

1991-1992

Weekly Thursday night Bingo started in October 1991 to help pay building debt.
A Pearl Harbor/World War II Remembrance was held at the Post in December to an overflow crowd. Post  members and December 7, 1941, survivors, Dr. William J. Coburn and Col. Charles R. Etzler  (Ret.) were honored.
Gold Star was the only Maryland post to submit a resolution to the Department Convention asking the National Convention to urge Congress to make Persian Gulf era veterans eligible for Legion membership. It was combined with like resolutions and approved as "Resolution #1". Congress passed that legislation in November 1991, and it was promptly signed by President Bush.

1992-1993

The discounted PUFL program started four years ago has been so successful that over one-third of our members are now paid for life.
Prior to Memorial Day, the Post placed American Flags on the graves of 340 veterans in 23 local cemeteries, a new record.

1993-1994

On November 27, after officiating at a Post member's funeral, Commander Helsel died on his way home. Per Post by-laws, he was succeeded by the 1st Vice Commander, Philip R. Dorsey.
In February 1994, the Post membership agreed to sponsor the new Boy Scout Troop 1191.
The Memorial Day Observances at Pine Grove Chapel, with 350 in attendance, included the unveiling of a new monument to the four Mt. Airy youths killed in Vietnam.
Life Memberships awarded to P. Delbert Beall and Manuel Quinones.

1994-1995

The publishing of "The Gold Star" newsletter was changed from monthly to every other month.
The rules for the three academic scholarships were changed to give more preference to Post members and their descendants.
Life Memberships awarded to Post charter and 50 year members: Benjamin F. Bohrer; William S. Penn; Robert E. Smith; John O. Steel; and Harvey W. Tabler.

1995-1996

Post membership approved an increase in one of the academic scholarship; all three scholarships are now $1,500.00. They are now named as Memorial Scholarships in honor of past members Commander C. Jack Weidman, Commander Elvin Helsel, and Col. Charles R, Etzer (Ret.).
"The Gold Star" news letter was awarded second place nationally in its category at the National Convention in Indianapolis.
This year's observance of Memorial Day Observance was the 50th time the Post Members gathered at Pine Grove Chapel and Cemetery where nine of our past commanders and over a hundred other Post members rest in the "Last Bivouac".

1996-97

· Cub Scouts Membership at 80.  The Scout Troop 1191 has 21 members.

·  32 letters received for scholarships.  4 scholarships approved for $1000 each. 
·  Lounge renovations were completed.  Replacement of kitchen floor with a quarry tile
    floor.  Security systems with cameras at each door and monitor over bar.
·  $5000 from Daytime Bingo sent to the North Dakota Flood Relief Fund.
·  Life Membership awarded to Carl Dayhoff.
·  Post awarded 4 Star plaque for all time high in membership.

    plans for renovation on October 30, 2000.  The loan is for  $600,000.  The Post will be responsible
    for $109,000 to cover remaining costs.
